Training Programs in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis

The Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas, a division of the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Society, offers psychoanalytic
training to clinicians, academicians, and researchers with an interest in psychoanalytic treatment and ideas.  The PECC currently offers advanced certificate training programs in:

  • Psychoanalysis, and
  • Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
Our clinical certificate programs are designed to enrich and strengthen each student's development as a clinician and psychoanalytic psychotherapist and/or psychoanalyst.  To facilitate each student's professional and personal growth, the clinical certificate programs offer students a comprehensive training experience, which includes:
  • Coursework in theory and technique
  • Supervised clinical work
  • Personal treatment
Academics and researchers who enroll in our certificate programs complete the coursework and personal treatment requirement but do not participate in supervised clinical work.

Students who are accepted into our training programs become matriculated in the PECC and may declare upon application, or at a later date, which certificate program(s) they want to pursue.
